Poker

Work and partying has kept me busy and my lack of poker success has kept me unmotivated, but I got back in the saddle long enough to play a $25 live tournament with my once-and-former boss Scott and a couple of other old co-workers. Two other Austinites rounded out the six-person affair.
It was a really fun laid back atmosphere, and I played well but not well enough. Or maybe I played well enough but AT was no match for A6 and then I got myself in with the worst of it a couple of times in unavoidable situations. Regardless, I was out in 4th with two spots paying.

A .25/.50 cash game opened up after that, and only the firt hand was of any interest to me. With several limpers, I raised from the SB to $2 -- marginal play, I know, but we were 5-handed at that point. April (of the ThisIsNotAPokerBlog poker blog) limp-called from UTG and we saw a J-hi flop. I bet $3.50 on the flop and she called after just a wee bit of thinking. TT seemed most likely. Hopefully she held a pocket pair that I had beat, but I felt behind. The turn was a rag and we checked. Then came a river K.
This was quite welcome. I bet out $7 confidently.
On my left, Matt, laughed out loud at her predicament as soon as I bet. I'd put her in a tough spot, and she folded. UTG+1 remarked that it "sure looked like AK."
That's what I was thinking!!

Then a girl called and I made my leave. You would have too.
