Pokah

HOUSTON -- See that thing on the left? Yeah, that's a dateline. I use it in my stories when I'm out of town and in my Longhorn sports blog too.
I'm I'm in Houston covering Texas' basketball team. The Longhorns won today, and they're now in the Elite 8.
That is neither here nor there.
I'm playing a HU poker match. Exciting, huh?
Only cuz I'm drunk (I keep on backspacing and editing myself otherwise you'd be able to tell.)
Well I went through my blog, checking out the old stuff. It used to be a pretty good blog. Maybe it inspired me to play more poker and write a more better blog.
We'll see.

Poker Pasttime

Hey no one. (No one's the only person who reads this worthless blog anymore.)
What do you do while you play poker?
I usually surf the internets and generally bore myself. I feel convinced that at any given time I've read the entire contents of ESPN.com, TheBigLead.com, WithLeather.com, Slate.com and I frequent a bunch of other sites. I've found a new way to keep myself occupied though.
The New Yorker magazine offers short stories in MP3 form. I've downloaded the ten stories that were available on the site, and I subscribed to the free podcast on iTunes. I like reading, writing and words in general much more than I like poker. (I still hate poker.) So, this is a great way to feel like I'm doing something productive while working at the masochistic task of playing poker.

Check out the Fiction Podcasts here.

My favorites so far are "Bullet in the Brain" by Tobias Wolff and "I Bought a Little City" by Donald Barthelme.
"Reunion" by John Cheevers, "Graven Image" by John O'Hara and "How to Date a Brown Girl (Black Girl, White Girl or Halfie)" by Junot Diaz are also quite good.
